Easter Sunday
It was a beautiful day and we had a fun time with extended family and friends. The Easter eggs showed up in the most unusual places. Just see where the kids found a few of them.

A sew day with the girls
Today Sage and Isabel came to make purses, namely the Mini Messenger bag. I received the pattern as a gift and I'm putting that gift to good use. Darci Wright and her mom, Penny Sturges are generous with gifting their patterns. The patterns are easy to follow and fun to sew, so if you ever see one of their patterns under the label...Quilts Illustrated buy it and have fun sewing. We started out cutting and Isabel was happy when that chore was done!
Miss Isabel getting that edge very straight.
Sage is working on the small squares.
On to sewing the small squares of the flap.
Isabel working on her small squares too. She was leaning over so closely she about sewed her hair to the fabric!
Now, on to the quilting of the flap.
Isabel is quilting the lining of her flap.
The finished flaps!
A job well done. We decided that was enough for one day. We have a date in a couple of weeks to finish up their bags. Thanks gals for a fun day of sewing!

Cubs lose
My husband received baseball tickets from our son and his family for his birthday, I got to go along. The weather was overcast so it didn't seem like it was 81 degrees. Now we are talking about the Cubs and this Spring training game was no different than a regular season game. Hopefully, the Cubbies will pull off a winning season this year, otherwise...."there's always next year" as the diehard Cub fans always say! Fergie Jenkins was at the game signing autographs.
Some of the Cubs warming up.
A Cub up to bat.
Enjoying the ballgame in spite of the Cubs loss.

I'm trying to catch up on blogging today!
After my quilt camp trip the following weekend I and my dog, Sadie, (no Sadie didn't share in the driving)drove to Yuma for a scrap booking weekend. Since I'm about nine years behind with my scrap booking this was a perfect time to try and catch up. My Aunt Bonnie and cousin, Teri Jo worked on our scrap books from Friday through Monday. I was able to finish 43 pages! I caught up to the year when my grandson, Noah was born...YAHOO! I shouldn't tell you Noah is 9! Now I have to hurry and get Josiah into the book which means I'm only seven years behind! Enjoy a few of pics of our weekend.
Me.
Cricut Headquarters!
Teri Jo working hard.
Aunt Bonnie having help from her dog, Suzie. Suzie thought she was a great help with good ideas!
We ate well, Teri Jo made the best Chicken tortilla soup. And of course there was chocolate!
On Saturday, Diane, who is married to my cousin, Jim, and her daughter, Katie came to visit and see what we where doing. Katie shared a picture on her phone...which I must admit I recongnized what it was immediately... and ultrasound...Katie and Richard are having a baby! Wish I had taken a picture of the ultrasound. Anyway, congrats Katie and Richard! We'll meet your new little one in Oct!
I now think I'm caught up with what I've been doing. Have a great day! Oh, by the way... I'm off to San Diego for a few days!!! I know, you're wishing you were coming with me! BYE!
Busy days in Febuary
Since January went by so quickly, Feb. doubled it's speed. I went to quilt camp in Pine, AZ with the "Material Girls" and we had lots of fun and laughs. Candy, Jim, and Sharon took excellent care of us and I think I gained 5 lbs from all the yummy food!
Me working on Charlene's "Memory" quilt.
Barbara and her "Jelly Roll" quilt.
Beverly won the fat quarter game. Can I just say...I've played this game probably 50 times and have won exactly once! What is that all about?? But, I do love to play and maybe some day I'll hit the jackpot!
Here's the whole gang! A fun bunch of quilters.
I've been busy.
Having lunch at the quilt show.
I can't believe it's February! Where did January go? I do know what I was doing in January; Lorene, Mardi, and I drove to Ontario, CA for the "Road To California" quilt show. My dear husband, Bruce, was able to comp us a room for three nights. Upon arrival the hotel desk clerk informed us we had been "up graded" to a king room. Uhmmm, that's nice but how are three gals going to sleep in one bed! After much a do, the hotel located a roll-away bed for our room. Mardi bless her heart, volunteered and slept on the roll-away. Since we were upgraded we were on the Starwood members floor and had a great breakfast each morning and "Happy Hour" in the evening. Drinks weren't included. :( The quilt show was fabulous and there were plenty of vendors to take our money. I can't put all the quilts here but I did add one of the winners. This gal was fun to visit with and had a beautiful quilt.
We headed home on Sunday morning after wearing out our feet and emptying our wallets.
Thanks gals for a fun trip!

It's time to start sewing!
I did it! I finally finished prepping the last two squares for my Block of the Month from The Quilted Moose. The BOM was titled, Le Jardin by Bunnie Hill. Here's the last two...
Once again, it's upside down! Don't know what I'm doing wrong, but you get the idea. I'm off to do some hand sewing. Happy Saturday!

Girls Night Out
On January 8, six of us went to see "Love, Lost, and What I Wore", it was a great dialogue. The main character was Loretta Switt who played 'hot lips' in "Mash" years ago. We all met at AZ88 for drinks and munchies before the play, we had a good time and saw a great play. Just check out our smiling faces....
This is Rose, Janet, and Becky.
Jamie and her fun Mom, Toni. Toni enjoyed her Cosmo x2!
Rose and I.
Thanks girls for a fun day!

A quick sewing project with friends
Yesterday I was sewing with two of my quilting buddies, we made cute thread catchers. I know, I'm supposed to be working on my applique project. Anyway, here's what we did...

This one is mine and I'm using it for a gift, so shhhhh.
Then we had a yummy, healthy lunch.
Okay, back to the applique project.
I have been working on projects
About two years ago I was in the Quilted Moose quilt shop in Gretna, NE; if you're ever in that area you better stop! Anyway, I saw this beautiful quilt, never mind that it had applique, and I decided I needed to make that quilt. So... here it is about two years later, I must say I had worked on three of the nine blocks last year; it's time to get this project completed. I worked all last week using the P3 method for applique and prepped four blocks. Just look at what I did....
Can't figure out why it's upside down??
Can't figure out why it's upside down??
Here's another one, up side down!
Anyway, you get the idea. I have two more blocks to prep and then I'll be ready to sew. Guess this is going to be the year to get projects completed.

Happy New Year
And so goes another year. I have looked back in my record keeping for my sewing projects and I see that I have accomplished something this year. It's a good thing I keep track of what I make each time or else I'd think I didn't do a thing all year! Come the new year, I hope to make a large dent in the "to do" list of quilting projects; I'll let you know Dec. 2012 if a dent was made. So...Happy New Year!

And life goes on
On December 5, 2011 my mother, Betty Ann died. She had been battling to breathe for awhile now, hooked to an oxygen tube trailing around behind her. It was difficult to listen to her attempt to breathe and walk across a room. She was a smoker, had been from her teen years, you see the cigarette industry made it so "cool" and "glamorous" to smoke in her early years. I for one am glad there aren't cigarette comercials on tv, on billboards, or in magazines any longer. I have a grandson, Steve, a niece, Emily, and some family members who still smoke and I dearly wish they would stop. There were days when my mom drove me crazy when I was a teenager and too when I was an adult, but I loved my mom and I will miss her. I found this Winnie the Pooh saying a few days ago on Pinterest and it made me think of my mom. Maybe you can attribute this to someone in your life too. "If there ever comes a day when we can't be together, keep me in your heart, I'll stay there for forever." Winnie the Pooh

A Sew Day
Today Mardi and I were test students for Lorene for a class she'll be teaching soon. We sewed at my house and that's my "Over The River"quilt behind Mardi, I finished it this summer; don't you just love it?? I do! We didn't finish our project but we did learn how to begin and how to finish. Check out a little of our fun time.
I did work on my little quilt after the girls left and heres the result. No borders yet.
Isn't Mardi's pretty.
With borders. Cute!
Now I just need to make my quilt sandwich and do a little quilting and I'll be ready for Valentine's Day. Christmas you say, oh I think I'll be ready. :)

What did I do today?
Isn't it frustrating when a person thinks they are all organized and ready to do something and then it doesn't work! That was the beginning to my day. I thought I was taking a EQ-7 class only to discover I had not reactivated my lap top. I guess that means I should be creating more via EQ-7 than I have been. A kind student in our class shared her lap top w/ me and I took lots of notes. Now, does anyone think I'll know what my notes mean in about two weeks?!
My other activity today was to help a friend paint her new patio home. There were four of us painting and still only managed to get one room painted. Of course we didn't get the trim done but that's for tomorrow. Now I have paint drips on the top of my left foot and am hoping it comes off! lol

I've been busy!
The UPS guy brought me a beautiful box of goodies, can you guess what was in the box? Beautiful apples!
What does a girl do with beautiful apples you ask...cut them up and put them in a pot!

Then when the apples are cooked, put them in pint jars, give the pretty apples a water bath for 30 minutes and then........
BEAUTIFUL, YUMMY APPLESAUCE!
